North Darkslip KeepThe fortress known as North Darkslip Keep has existed for nearly 20,000 years, as far as i can tell. It was commissioned by House It'lilia during the height of its influence and built by magic and slave labor. The architects built the massive keep into the side of a massive stalagmite/stalagtite mass as was the fashion at the time. Matron It'lilia requested that it sit in a position to survey all of her lands as well as those she intended to acquire. It stood for 5,000 years as a monument to Drow prestiege.
House It'lilia was the third House of the Darkslip region of the World Below and commanded one of the largest armies this side of the Shendu Rift. Yet it was not this army of rained Orcs, Trolls and Bugbears that earned its position but the might of its legendary Matron Mother. This
elf, don't look at me like that (... a pointy ear is a pointy ear), wrestled rulership of the House from her mother, the previous Matron Mother, in one on one battle that is still depicted on these very walls. It took digging but I managed to find her name, Ulga It'lilia. They call her 'The Eye of It'lilia'. Apparently she wielded a powerful
sixth sense, or third eye as it is usually depicted and was able to command the loyalty of beholder hordes.
The position of third House seems to have been a personal choice by Matron It'lilia because as far as I can tell the House possessed the strength to topple both one and two Houses. The Eye of It'lilia had no match yet It'lilia eventually fell, through mysterious circumatances,to House D'Bainet the fourth house. For the next 6,600 years The fourth House of Darkslip ruled the north. The vast army of It'lilia was crushed yet their beholders passed on to the conquerors. Strangely enough their Matron too exhibited a sixth sense, or third eye which seems to be their constant image. For a time House D'Bainet seemed as
invincible as it predecessor.
Until the upstart Matron of the eighth House of Darkslip set her sights on North Darkslip Keep. The events of this change of ownership is clearly depicted on the walls of that shrine... what can I say I've had plenty of time to investigate while you guys were off getting killed! It seems that the Matron's eldest daughter used her magic to hide two infiltrators from scrying and thus protected the two conspirators stole into Darkslip Keep. Once inside, the only two males to ever be acknowledged by the eighth House killed Matron D'Bainet and acquired her third eye. I know, that's the part that confused me. It appears that The third eye was in fact a magical item of sorts,
a single eye infused with magic. Whatever it is, without it House D'Bainet was easily erradicated by House R'Van.
That was a mouth full... did you guys find any ale in there? Know what? i'll settle for wine at this point... I need a drink.
