Axel La'Fiorre

The La'Fiorres made a name for themselves almost 200yrs again just after The Four Year War as a corps of warrior specialist at the king's beckon call. They were unique in their autonomy from the royal armed forces and in their concentration of skilled soldiers, knights, and men at arms. Over the years they have proven indispensable in their role as defenders of the throne having thwarted many coups as well as deposed one or two tyrants. As the kingdom has grown and shrunk The La'Fiorres have also varied in size but have always had a hand in the maintaining of the throne's power.

Axel earned renown during The Battle Tanservaile Bog when he led a force of 3 score against an army of over 2000 ghouls sent by The Mad Necromancer Macabre Magnus to destroy the temple of Yama. The temple was an obscure holy site, unimportant to any save for its few priest but Axel did not hesitate to answer the call for help when it came. Many died during that nightmarish skirmish but those that survived agree that it was Axel's leadership that saw them through the worst of it. That was why he was tapped by the La'Fiorres. He accepted their invitation without hesitation and for the next 5 years trained in their secret facilities in The Way of The Shield and The Art of Command. He would not make another public appearance until The Peasants' Revolt. He and his fellow La'Fiorres held the line for 48 hrs while the proletariat of the capital attempted to sack the Castle of Kings.

He volunteered to be a part of the search for Usher's Monument arguing that the Tomes of Lyons might be the key to protecting not only the kingdom but the throne itself.

Leatherbaum Sooles

It is rare that a mage chooses the School of Fire for its destructive nature is at odds with the teachings of The School of The Five Elements but when such a mage exist his ambitions are suppressed by The Council of Magi in hopes of quelling the fires that burn within. Leatherbaum was such a mage with a will so strong that in the end The Council found it necessary to send him abroad. They'd hoped that his travels would allow him to release a bit of his passion and slow the fires that would eventually burn him out. Their hopes were unrealized. He proved to not only be a capable adventurer but managed to make a name for himself among the many nations of the realm. He became The Burning One among the little people of The Middle Mountains, The Bringer of Light to The Land of Soot, and The Red Menace to The Dwarves of Stone Forest.

His return, feared by his mentors, proved to be the saving grace of The School of The Five Elements. It was his fire that kept the walls unattainable when Eiruohk, Mankiller led his army of elven marauders against the schools' tower. The Five Elements taught peace, capitulation, and the servitude of magic. Leatherbaum reminded them that magic was a force unchallenged and even peace sometimes needed to be enforced with mortal consequences. The Council of Magi honored him but were unwilling to offer a Fire Mage a seat on their board of leaders. What they gave him was a quest of honor.

The Council of Magi knew that knowledge would need a warden on the quest for Lyons' Tomes. That warden was Modnar Ynnad, but he would need an enforcer. The fiery spear of The Council was Leatherbaum Soole.

That was the point. Now you know who you were and now you have a basis to launch from. Axel La'Fiorre, hero and leader. He won't fail in the quest to find the Tomes. He can't fail, he's a La'Fiorre!

Modnar Ynnad

Born on the Full Moon during the eldritch Phase of Rock, Modnar was destined to be a competent Mage with a grounded sensibility and an affinity for elemental magic. As a boy the School of Earth Magic but focused mainly on he art of enchanting. Being nurtured by his teachers at The School of The Five Elements and have an abundance of natural talent the boy Ynnad created a great many of the toys used to teach fledgling enchanters the art. It wasn't until his life took a dark and unexpected turn that he focused on his Earth training.

The Wasting Swarm had arisen for the third time and a contingent of Mages accompanied the group of mercenaries hired by the crown to deal with the blight. The campaign had started simple but gradually bad turn after bad turn left the would be heroes lost and dying. It was Modnar's magic, the healing and blessings of Earth, that saved the group and allowed the entombing of The Wasting Swarm once more. The king offered him a seat at court, an honor denied The School Mages for nearly a century, and the school dubbed him Magi of The Earth, though many of his peers were far more accomplished. To many within the kingdom Modnar Ynnad became synonymous with magic.

He was asked to lend his wisdom by both king and council when The Oracle made it clear that the only way to stop The Beast of The End and to save the failing kingdom was to find Usher's Monument and The Tomes of Lyons buried within.

Black Talon, Paladin of The Void

The Void. A hunk of rock found deep inside a cave on the very edges of the known world. The Void. A sentient mass of alien stone full of enigmatic knowledge and wisdom. The Void. Center of a religious order mysterious and frightful yet virtuous. The Void. An entity fed by the dark lifeforce of the undead. The Void. Unknown, unknowable.

Black Talon had once been a La'Fiorre but disgrace is a thing unacceptable within an order dedicated to a lifetime of valor and honor. Having nowhere to go Black Talon forsook his old name and the life that went with it in search of new purpose. That search led him to Mount Umbrasalt, and the source of wisdom for the lost known as The Void. The Void showed him that he was meant for a task far different from that of his former order. He was not meant to be the guardian of a mortal throne. No, he was meant to be the guardian of life itself as a champion against the spread of undeath. The stone called The Void bestowed upon him a piece of itself and an ally also with a past needing redemption. Together Black Talon became the leader of Demonbane and The Paladin of The Void.

The first true test for the duo was in the slaying of The Mad Necromancer Macabre Magnus. It was also the first time that Black Talon had come face to face with his past. His brother Axel did not recognize him in his dark armor and tattoos but their bond transcended past deeds and new alliances. The final battle saw Axel standing side by side with The Paladin of The Void fending of a seemingly endless wave of ravenous ghouls. The latter saved the formers life solidify and camaraderie between the two. Demonbane and The Paladin of The Void went on to scourge the undead wherever they were found and made quite a name for themselves as well as The Followers of The Void. No sentient undead hears of The Paladin of The Void without feeling fear of his devastating scythe, a piece of The Void.

It was Axel, now a La'Fiorre like his brother long gone, that invited the duo on the quest for The Tomes. Little do either of them know that their destiny lies in wait for them within the walls of Usher's Monument.

Thanks, to be honest I hadn't really given the character backgrounds much thought because I figured we'd only play once. Now I'm trying to give everyone their own personality but tie them in to one another in some way. The difficult part is writing it on the fly while trying to get my work done while writing my current project while trying to look like I'm doing my work. Lol, its a difficult job but someone has to do it.

I've read everyone's background that you've written so far, and I find them very interesting. Brings a little bit of life to each character. Just wondering what brought that damn betraying elf around though -hint hint nudge nudge-

No thats not a problem at all i had it set up where everyone can see you and you them. that would not have been a hastle to anyone at all. Lian showed up and needed a character yours was already made so he and you will share a toon (not really) until he has his own.
