That subject is for Lloyd and his Anime reference. Only Lloyd.
Now the real reason for this post is....I was thinking about some past posts about how players like to feel powerful and heroic. This idea came to my head will driving to work.
Anime. Everyone on this forum either watches it or has. The heroes are usually larger than life., and why not experiment with a game concept that utilizes this concept.
My thoughts were for the C&C system.
No change in any of the core rules are needed. We just need to make a couple of abilities available. The idea is to keep things "Simple".
So we have a fighter and he inflicts 26 points of damage to an Orc. Normally he is dead, but how about if there are 30 Orcs and they each have 6 HP? Why not let the damage "Trample" (MTG)?
> 26 Dam = 6+6+6+6+2= 4 dead Orcs an one wounded.
. No need for any fighter to have multiple attacks (simple)
My second Idea is defense. At 3rd level a player can take 1/4 less dam, 6th 1/2 dam, 12th 1/4.
Offense can work the same
Now why mention this? Anime.
When we are fighting the hordes we look really cool and take a little damage. We are Heroes Bitch thats how we roll.
The counter are boss battles. Bosses are the same equivalent as the heroes and have all of the above abilities. In turn we are all doing normal Damage to each other.
I figured this is a good concept cause we do not need to modify the rules and make things super complicated.
The example used above was a fighter. What ideas can people come up with for the other class's?
Mage - Maybe some spell provide the above Defense and can only be cast on self, spells of your specialized school have added effects
Priest- Healing can convert to a shield that absorbs damage for the priest
Thief - Maybe they can attract followers early or the backstabe has an effect.
The goal is to Keep things simple and visually magnificent.
Lets go back to the worrier who did 26 dam to the orcs. How was this visually accomplished? One sweep that took out 4 orcs, did a burst of white energy emmit from his sword, maybe he moved fast and took each out one by one in a blink of an eye?
The result remained the same 26 dam 4 orcs dead and one wounded.
