RIFTS

This is a post apocalyptic game that takes place an unknown amount of years after the third world war.

Humanity likes war and we finally did it, the world as we know it is destroyed after several nukes are launched.

The result the worlds magical energies are heightened and released upon its surface. As the game is named rifts open through out the planet transporting unnamed creatures from unknown dimensions.

Most of humanity is thrown pack into low tech. The midevil age is reborn, humanity must survive.

Years pass some come to power and protect the weak. Other remain isolated and survive in small packs through out the word.

When the game starts it takes place in North America and people are still rediscovering the continent. The place known in legends as New York City is now a haven for the undead; the living avoid 20 million of the walking dead.

The one place of hope is known as CHI Town; the old region known as Chicago. The Emperor protects his people with an Iron fist and propaganda. Imagine The Third Reich; only the true humans, those of pure untainted blood are considered citizens. The rest are either watched, killed, or converted through foul experiments.

The Might of the military is what keep the supernatural out. Everyone is aware of the empires deaths head visage. Each soldiers helmet represents a skull, each machine of destruction bears its symbol.

So, the tech is divided in two ways S.D.C. (Structural Damage Capacity) and M.D.C's (Mega Damage Capacity) The difference is huge. The average person has SDC the average supernatural has MDC. How do we survive; we created guns and armor that can compete.

The break down:


1 MDC = 100 SDC

No amount of SDC can equal 1 MDC

See the difference? An army with SDC guns shooting at a 1 MDC creature can never win.

As far a weapons go adventurers wear MDC armor and weapons. Some use guns other use Vibro-Swords (MDC).

We are divided in two groups military or non-military. The war machine is huge.

I could tell you some of the craziest stories I ever heard from in Rifts. My old idea of Big World stems from the way my friend and old GM ran it. You could be almost any race, so as long as he approves it. My old crew had some interesting characters: From my own Earth Elemental Raccoon mutant to one guy's Cheer-leading coalition solider (Don't ask, he had some of the weirdest ideas). Man, it was good times.

But as much as things change, some things stay the same... when will I start being a true hero, instead of a coward...?

This system has a long ass character generation. You remember how long it took u to roll up that Psi-Stalker.

I also think my books were at Jimmy's. I am not sue though.

I will ask the age old question.....When do you all want to play?

Everyone think of a basic archetype and post it. I will then scour the book and make you each a basic preRolled; Or you read the characters and races allowable. Pick a O.C.C. (Optional Character Class), write down everything that you understand AND
I will fill in the gaps.


Post you ideas and or desired class here for my review and APPROVAL. Remember, I am the DM and if the class is not approved...that... MY WORD IS LAW. Do not fight me.

perhaps a coalition character, kind of a big black guy who takes no shit attitude and likes to drink and is quiet. think barret from ff7

I don't have any of the Rifts books so I can't put anything other than an idea...I was thinking of a robotic/cybernetic type character (Something like Brainiac from Superman). So I guess a living program would be a fair description. Let me know if you need anything more. I have lots of ideas I would like to do with this guy, but I don't know what you would allow or not...

I dont know how magic works in this system but maybe some type of spellcaster working with the coalition

Shoo: Not to talk you out of it, but magic is ASS in this game. On the bright side there are several magic class's

Legendary: I ill do some research in my book and see what I can find on a Cyborg -to- full fledged robot. I know Heroes Unlimited has a whole section dedicated to this, but they might be too powerful.

Now were did my Heroes to Rifts conversion book go??

Lancelot: Coalition is easy, meaning that they have different varieties
Examples:

SAMAS - A pilot of a small flying Mech
Coalition on Hover Cycles
Pilots of robots (Need multiple pilots to operate though)
Grunt
....More, just dont remember atm.


ALSO, Class's are either O.CC's (Optional Character Class) or R.C.C (Racial Character class).

Coalition and Mage are O.C.C and robot is R.C.C.

YO! I need feed back or people will be given a character to play.

So far only Lancelot and Legendary gave ideas. Shoo did to but not sure on his final decision.

Flow, Random, Grom, Muppet #1, Muppet #3...Who did I miss. Seriously give me ideas.

My toughts are that since every is leaning towards Coalition my adventure will be from their perspective.

Hmm... I don't know if i could play coalition. They are way too hypocritical in their ways. Then again I may play as a dog boy...

Update #1:

The party starts out in the most advanced and revered nation in
the know world. Coalition treats its citizens great; and its
soldiers even better. So, naturally people join the government in
order to live a decent life. No more begging or stealing on the
streets. The Coalition provides for its own.

Each player will start off as either a CS conscripted soldier,
slave race (DogPack, PsiStalker), or a favored affiliate.

So far we have 5 confirmed players; we will need 9 pre-rolled
characters for those who play on occasion and a quick replacement
for the dead.

The protagonists:

- Arms, maybe one is a gun

CS Military (O.C.C.) .v. (Darnell)

I'm envisioning some kind of Roguish Techhead, espionage, hacking, covert ops kind of stuff. Maybe I do a little smuggling on the side.

Abyssal Heart: Sounds good, but you need to be a coalition soldier. I have the class in mind. I figure he can do shady stuff on the side and use his military influence in his dealings.

im sorry about the delay chad, but i wanted to play something that was like a recon type stealthy guy more like an infiltraitor. I needed to get in that mind set be something like that, if i could some powers that would be hella cool but for the most part i want to be the go guy to get in somewhere and report intell. now if there is some kind of psy ability that allows me to communicate with my team i would be up for it, for weapon skills typical sniper and handgun skills, i dont want to be limited but thats where i specialize. so let me get some feedback on what i could be, or my options! when are you starting though, at least for the character custom?

Everyone will be part of the Gov Military - Coalition.

They all look down upon anything that is not a pure human. Life is hard and has gotten harder since the fall of society, Rifts opened and all sort of Dimensional Beings (B-Bees) poured through destroying what little of security we had.

It took a wile, but humanity persevered. The Coalition was founded, man was able to defend its own borders, protect its future. From this day forward the children are able to walk the streets.

Human are what this planet was made for, humans are whats going to take it back.

Over the course of hundred(s) if years humanity has been the underdog. The purity of the human race is a strong feeling that many share.
